After seventeen years working in regional health, Dr David Gillespie knows what's needed to fix our hospital system. While there's been lots of talk from government and the local MP, he's concerned that there's been too little action.
Now he's standing for Parliament. To get real action on upgrading our local hospitals and to put the Lyne electorate back on the government's agenda.
David is passionate about securing first-class medical services for the mid-north coast and he has a track record of getting results. As the Director of Physician Training at Port Macquarie Hospital David played an important role in the education of young doctors in the region.
David believes we live in a great area with enormous potential, but it's growing fast and we're not getting the priority we need. He wants to see more opportunities for local young people and a fair go for families and seniors. He's concerned that grocery and petrol prices, power, water and interest rates are all going up, despite Labor's promise to bring down the cost of living.
As someone who built a succesful family business from the ground up, David also knows intimately the problems facing small business in the region. He's concerned that the government's growing debt is stifling job growth and pushing up interest rates for small businesses and families.
David lives with his wife Charlotte an three children on a small farm west of Port Macquarie. A self confessed sports tragic, he enjoys cycling, running, an occasional surf and has coached junior rugby and cricket for a number of years.
David will put our community first.
