Two community groups on the Comboyne Plateau have been given a further boost with the announcement of new Federal funding.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie has announced funding under the Coalition Government’s Volunteer Grants programme to assist Comboyne Tigers Rugby League Football Club and the Comboyne Community Centre.
“The Tigers Rugby League Club has been successful in in securing a $4,200 grant for new kitchen appliances for the clubhouse and I am delighted to announce that the Comboyne Community Association will receive $5,000 towards the costs of a new air-conditioning system for the Community Association,” Dr Gillespie said.
“Both organisations play a significant role in the Comboyne community and I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the volunteers and members involved on their successful funding submissions.”
The Australian Government has invested $20 million in Volunteer Grants in recognition of the valuable role volunteers play in building more resilient and cohesive communities and supporting individual participation in community life.
“Volunteering has a strong presence throughout our community, whether it be helping out with local sporting teams and land care groups, responding to natural disasters and emergencies, or helping local charities support some of our most disadvantaged people,” Dr Gillespie said.
