Major repairs to a classroom roof will now get underway at Wingham Preschool thanks to a successful funding application announced today by Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie.
Dr Gillespie today congratulated Wingham Preschool on securing $11,650 in Federal funding towards the $23,300 repair project.
“Wingham Preschool is one of our community’s highly respected institutions which has been operating for the past 40 years,” Dr Gillespie said.
“The Preschool extended their premises to include an additional classroom last year and during the construction, the builder alerted the Board to the disrepair of the existing preschool’s roof which has holes and damage to the building and is now in need of repair before further damage occurs.”
“The school applied for funds through the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities programme and I’m delighted that due to the success of their application they can now combine their own funds with the Federal grant to finally get on and repair the roof.
The Australian Government’s Stronger Communities programme assists with the development of small capital projects that deliver social benefits by supporting community participation, while also contributing to the vibrancy and viability of local communities.
Grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 are available under the programme. More information about the Stronger Communities programme can be found at http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/
