Hot temperatures and strong winds have continued along the coast with a significant contingent of fire fighters dispatched to the Comboyne Plateau and Innes View area to fight a major bushfire, which has already destroyed two homes and wiped out thousands of hectares of bushland over the past few days.
Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie today visited local firefighters in Comboyne to thank them for their tireless efforts in fighting the fires.
“This is a major bush fire that continues to threaten many homes, livestock, crops, wildlife and timber plantations. Over the past few days we have seen upwards of 60 fire units make their way up to the Comboyne plateau to battle the blaze and to try and get it under control in hot, windy and very dangerous conditions,” Dr Gillespie said.
“They have done a magnificent job saving many homes already and on behalf of our community, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the fire fighters, police and emergency service personnel for their brave and tireless efforts,” he added.
