Gillespie announces funds for Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Centre

The Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Centre at 88 King Street will undergo renovations to improve community access as part of an overall $69,022 upgrade of the centre’s local facilities.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said Federal funding of $5,000 would be made available under the Coalition’s Stronger Communities programme to assist with the project.

“The Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Centre has become a very active community-based organisation offering a community hub service model to provide access to support and advice about a range of government and non-government services,” Dr Gillespie said.

“This funding will assist the Centre remove the existing glass door, install an automatic glass door and rectify the concrete ramp to comply with the latest standards providing improved access for people with disabilities.

The project will also see the removal of carpet, wall partition and block wall. The project will also see the installation of new commercial grade carpet, full height gyprock walls, glass partition and doors, a reception desk and computer pods.
