Manning Valley Cycle Club continuing to upgrade and expand

19th December 2018

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie today announced $8,800 towards the cost of fitting out the clubhouse with a kitchenette, refrigeration, servery and a section dedicated to allow for the sale of merchandise.

“The Manning Valley Cycle Club is a small club that is growing, they continue to find new ways to fundraise and expand their facilities for the benefit of the local community and I’m delighted to be able to support yet another worthwhile project at the Club.

“The Manning Valley Cycle Club has unique facilities with its Clubhouse, Criterium  Track & 5 Police approved Road Race Circuits.

“The Club conducts races for its members all year round and holds events that include visitors.  Port Macquarie Cycle Club & MVCC members regularly race against each other at the MVCC circuits and at the Port Macquarie facility,” Dr Gillespie said.

The Manning Valley Cycle Club previously received funding to complete its clubhouse in conjunction with the Manning Valley Hockey Association.  The proposed fitout will enhance Manning Valley Cycle Club’s usage of the facility.

The funding is being made available under the Federal Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Program (SCP).

Under the latest funding round, each electorate will receive $150,000 to allocate towards successful projects, with a maximum of 20 projects to be funded per electorate.

Dr Gillespie said the additional investment for a fourth round of SCP would ensure that local decision making continues to play a decisive role in funding community building projects.

“Grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 are awarded to successful applications and I am delighted that the Manning Valley community has been able to benefit from this important initiative,” Dr Gillespie said.
