Empowering country women, involvement in local community projects and developing policies and strategies to improve country Australia were among the topics discussed at today’s Annual General Meeting of the Country Women’s Association – Mid-North Coast Group in Kendall today.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie addressed 60 CWA members of the group, including the President of Country Women’s Association Of Australia Dorothy Coombe and Mid North Coast CWA President Margaret Breust.

“It was a wonderful gathering of many members of the CWA across the Mid-North Coast and I was delighted to hear of the many community issues local members have become involved in,” Dr Gillespie said.

“As Dorothy Coombe said, the CWA is much more than morning tea, scones and craft, it is an organisation that empowers country women through their involvement in projects at both the grassroots and national level aimed at making a positive difference in their communities.”
