Taree Basketball Association secured Federal funding for Stadium work

15th February 2019

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie will today join members of the Taree Basketball Association to announce Federal funding towards a further upgrade at Saxby’s Stadium.

Dr Gillespie said Taree Basketball Association had been successful in securing $39,000 in Federal funding under second round of the $30-million Community Sport Infrastructure Program to install an air cooling system.

The new air cooling system will significantly reduce the temperature by up to 35% while increasing the airflow throughout the building.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Saxby’s stadium will undergo this upgrade providing greater comfort to players and users of the facility, while at the same time, helping to reduce the electricity costs,” Dr Gillespie said.

“Saxby Stadium is a regional sporting facility which hosts many sports, at local and representative level, and this project is an important component in the overall push to upgrade this important community asset.”

“The Nationals in government understand that our success and prowess as a sporting nation begins with grassroots sports, and that is why we have focused our investment on local grassroots sporting facilities such as the upgrade here in Taree at Saxby Stadium,” Dr Gillespie said.
